http://media.wcnc.com/images/1412ward.jpgFormer WSOC-TV reporter Ken Ward died early Wednesday morning, WSOC-TV confirms.  He was 44-years-old.Ward had been a reporter at WSOC-TV since January 2011. He worked the morning shift and reported on Channel 9 and TV64′s morning newscasts.

He previously had worked as an anchor and reporter at News14.

Ward had recently left the WSOC-TV for a reporter position in Tampa, Florida at the ABC affiliate, according to WSOC-TV.

Ward was a graduate of Hampton University and The College of New Rochelle with degrees in Journalism and Communications.  He leaves behind a wife and son.
