Frequent fliers may see faster security in Charlotte

Frequent fliers at Charlotte Douglas International Airport could soon get through security a little faster, as the Transportation Safety Administration rolls out its PreCheck expedited screening program in Charlotte.
The TSA said Wednesday that it will expand the program, which has been tested at seven airports, to about 30 more airports across the country. The agency didn’t give an exact timetable, but said it expects to complete the expansion this year.

Kayak headquarters leaving Charlotte

The organization that runs the U.S. Olympic canoe and kayak teams is moving its headquarters from Charlotte to Oklahoma City, but the impact on the Queen City may be hard to notice.
USA Canoe/Kayak (USACK) will move to a city that is building a man made whitewater course similar to the U.S. National Whitewater Center, which opened in 2006 just west of Charlotte.

Chiquita To Move HQ To Charlotte

The fight to keep Chiquita in Cincinnati is over. WLWT’s John London was the first to report that Chiquita will be moving its headquarters to Charlotte, N.C. North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue made it official during a news conference at 4 p.m.
Chiquita CEO Fernando Aguirre attended the news conference in Charlotte. He was met with a round of applause when he was introduced by Perdue.
3 charged with murder in case of missing man

Three men have been charged with murder and robbery after police said two men were reported missing from their northwest Charlotte home this week.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have released few details about the case but identified the victims, apparently relatives, as Benjamin Acahua-Itehua, 39, and Floriberto Acahua-Itehua, 32. More >
2 Charlotte men plead guilty to Clean Air Act violations

Two Charlotte men pled guilty today to violating the Clean Air Act by conducting false vehicle emission inspections, announced Anne M. Tompkins U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.
Joining U.S. Attorney Tompkins in making today’s announcement are Special Agent in Charge Maureen O’Mara of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Criminal Investigation Division (EPA-CID) of the Atlanta Area Office, and Donnie Varnell, Special Agent in Charge of the Diversion and Environmental Crimes Unit of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NC SBI).
Arrests made in front of Charlotte Bank
